WWE Hell In A Cell 2018 Review

WWE Hell In A Cell 2018 Review

The Kickoff show starts off with the Hell In A Cell Hype video package as we come to the picture with the panel being Jonathan Coachman, Paige, Booker T, & Peter Rosenburg with David Otunga being apart of it later.

They start a discussion about the Hell In A Cell Matches and what crazy things we could see tonight. I fully expect to see some crazy spots with Roman/Braun and Jeff Hardy giving us one last big moment to remember him by. They also mention the Mick Foley/Undertaker Hell In A Cell Match and the Red Hell In A Cell structure.

The New Day Defeat  Rusev Day Via Trouble In Paradise On English & Retain Smackdown Tag Team Titles

Match Grade : B-

Opinion: A  hell of a tag team match that deserved to be on the main card, It had great action and great storytelling with some good spots by both teams. Near the end of the match, we got to see Aiden English shine with some great work rate.  They continue to tease the split of Rusev Day with Aiden English making mistakes that cause a loss. A fully expect Rusev & Lana to fully turn heel in a few weeks leading to a Rusev/English feud.

Randy Orton Defeats Jeff Hardy In A Hell In A Cell Match after Jeff Hardy goes crashing through a table.

Match Grade : A-

Opinion: This match was everything that I did not expect, I expected a  boring match with a flash finish that would let me down. But instead what we got was a highly intense match with nearly perfect storytelling. Randy Orton plays the sadistic heel better than anyone when he used a screwdriver and nearly tore Jeff Hardy ear off. We saw a screwdriver, chairs, tables, & Ladders. The ending sequence pretty much summed the career of Jeff Hardy taking one more high spot and it costing him. Orton walks away looking like the top heel of Smackdown as his heel work has been out of the world and this might His best match in years as well as Jeff Hardys best match since coming back to WWE.

Becky Lynch Defeats Charlotte Flair Via Rollup & Wins Smackdown Women's Title

Match Grade: B+

Opinion: This was one of the best women matches of the year and it really shows how much the women division has improved over the last few years. The match had a beautiful story of both women knowing every move and having counter after counter. Becky Lynch came in with a master plan and it worked and it told a great story of how Becky used her friendship and knowledge of Charlotte to beat her. The best part of this match had to be the fans and the love they have for Becky Lynch and i really felt if she lost that the fans might have hijacked the show. A very well done match and I hope they can continue and expand their feud with a whole new layer.

Drew McIntyre  & Dolph Ziggler Defeats  Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose Va Claymore Kick On Rollins & Retain Raw Tag Team Titles

Match Grade: A

Opinion: This match really showed off the talent of all 4 men as they got time to shine, This is one of the better tag matches Raw has done since the brand split. The ending of this match was so well down with Drew hitting Rollins with the Claymore as he was mid-move on Ziggler. McIntyre is proving to be one of the best things in WWE and I love his pairing with Ziggler and i expect this feud having one more big match but if I am honest I never want to see this feud end. If you hate tag team wrestling watch this match and you will once again love it.

AJ Styles Defeats Samoa Joe Via Rollup & Retains WWE Title

Match Grade: B+

Opinion : This is their best match together in WWE but the finish was what I was not a fan of. They used the same old submission on the finish they always do in matches like these. I wanted a creative finish or a decisive one but it looks like they will have one more match to end this feud. AJ Styles continues his historic WWE Title run and Samoa Joe still looks like a strong heel but all i ask for is creativity to be upped the next time.

The Miz & Maryse Defeat Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella Via Maryse Rolling Up Brie Bella

Match Grade : D+

Opinion: This match should have never happened and it was only done to stall the Miz/Bryan one on one feud. The match was sloppy and everytime Brie and Maryse were in the ring it was very cringy to watch i expect better from Miz & Bryan and felt like they were both held back tonight because when they went at it it was very good. The sloppy finish was one of the worst ending sequences we have seen in 2018.

Ronda Rousey Defeats Alexa Bliss Via Armbar & Retains Raw Womens Title

Match Grade : C-

Opinion: Leaps and bounds better than their Summerslam match, Alexa Bliss works great as a heel and both women told a great story of Rousey coming in with injured ribs. This should end the feud and it was done in the right way to make both look good and it gave Rousey her first very tough one on one match.

Braun Strowman Vs Roman Reigns ends in no contest when Brock Lesnar makes a shocking return and lays out both men. Due to that Roman Reigns retains the Universal Title and Braun Strowman becomes the 4th man to fail a Money In The Bank Cash In.

Match Grade: C+

Opinion: This was your typical Roman/Strowman match we have seen many times over the past year. To be honest I was bored until the final 7 minutes when we saw Seth Rollins, Deam Ambrose, Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler fight on the outside of the cell which ended with Rollins & Ziggler falling off the side of the cell through tables. The ending of the match was meh too having Brock Lesnar make a return did shock me but using him to finish off Reigns and Strowman just annoyed me. My only guess is now there might be a triple threat match in order and maybe Lesnar is staying longer than we expected.

Show Grade : B+

Show Opinion: The first 3 hours of this show was nearly perfect as it gave me a brutal hell in a cell match, 2 great tag team matches, a great WWE Title match, and a very well done women's title match. but the last half of the show at times could be dreadful as the last 3 matches killed the show for me and the main event even bored me. That is the story of WWE tho for most shows as they never seem to keep the momentum for 4 hours but this show was good and will be remembered as one of the best WWE shows of 2018 ( Which isn't saying much)

Match Of The Night : Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose Vs Dolph Ziggler & Drew Mcintyre )
